Announcement about World Hunger Strike Day for Freedom of Prisoners of Conscience in Hanoi

In response to the call for World Hunger Strike Day for Freedom of Prisoners of Conscience July 25, 2015 in a bid to promote Human Rights 2015 campaign, we, residents of Hanoi and adjacient localities, agree to participate in the event, with goals to demand the Vietnamese government to respect human rights and release all prisoners of conscience.

Time: from 8.00 AM of Saturday [July 25, 2015] until 8.00 AM Sunday [July 26, 2015]
Place: Bach Thao Park, Hoang Hoa Tham street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi (see map below)



In addition, participants may select suitable and legal places for conducting the hunger strike. 

We welcome other people who are concerned about the country's human rights situation to take part in the event or support us.

All individuals whose health conditions are not good, such people with heart diseases, abnormal blood pressure, stomatch diseases and under 45 kg of weight are discouraged to participate in the event as fat conductors.

During the hunger strike, everyone can stop at any moment due to health reason or other reasons. 
We encourage participants of the event to wear white shirts with an emblem of We Are One campaign: nhanquyen2015.net (see picture below.)


When taking part in World Hunger Strike Day, all participants should bring drinking water, hat, identification documents, cell phone for communication. All participants must obey all regulations of the park where the hunger strike occurs, throwing derbis in bins.

All participants can return home before 10.00 PM when the park close, continuing to fat until 8.00 AM in Sunday.

The group hunger strike is an activity to peacefully express opinions. We will not agree with all other activities which may cause public disorders and infringe freedom of other people.

We request Hanoi city's authorities to assist us in exercising human rights in peaceful and legal way.
In case of any troubles regarding public order, please inform the police in Ba Dinh district by dialing (84-4) 3845 2543 or the police in Ngoc Ha ward by (84-4) 3845 7073.

This announcement will be sent to UN Human Rights organizations, foreign embasies in Vietnam, international human rights bodies, social networks, and foreign news agencies.
